Ruwwad, the word in Arabic for pioneers, is a youth project that believes in helping youth realize their full potential and become agents of social change in their communities. USAID’s youth empowerment program Ruwwad, implemented by Education Development Center (EDC) is a project led by youth for youth and their communities. We house several activities to involve youth and help them bring their creative ideas to life. Twice a month, we hold an extensive Leadership and Community Engagement training, where youth from all over the West Bank meet for three days and attend workshops in leadership and team work, dialogue and media, community organizing and mobilization, employability skills, technology and virtual communication for community development, and Youth Led Initiative development. Upon the completion of each of the trainings, our initiatives team works with youth on developing their initiatives and making them happen. Ruwwad provides youth with invaluable resources to transform their communities and fulfill their needs.
' Faker wa Qarer Initiative ' When the trainers are in the training, the rest of our staff offers ground-breaking support to organizations and youth centers through our Capacity Building and Sub-grants departments. Our Capacity Building department builds the institutional support to the three Youth Development Recourses Centers (YDRCs) housed at the Jabal an-Nar Club (Nablus), al-Bireh Youth Foundation (Al-Bireh-Ramallah) and Bait al-Tifl Club (Hebron). In terms of the Sub-grants department, Ruwwad offers financial and fellowships to non-governmental organizations that work directly with youth and youth related issues. In a place like Palestine, where change is the only constant, we work because we want the ultimate change to be the positive difference our youth make in their communities, society, country and the world.
