From left to right: Christine Shaheen, Salma Abdo, as Kareem and Haneen Youth leaders from the National Youth Corps played a central role in the launch of the new season of the Palestinian Sesame Street on November 25 th, 2008.
Dressed up as Kareem and Haneen, the two main characters for this season, NYC leaders Salma Abdo and Christine Shaheen romped through the launch ceremony, playing with the children and posing with guests like Howard Sumka, Director of the USAID West Bank/Gaza Mission, Bassem Kort, Senior Program Development Specialist at USAID, and Hisham Jabi, Ruwwad Program Chief of Party. Playing a supporting role were three other NYC leaders, Yusuf Haj Qassim, Ahmed Yassin, and Suha Mar'i, who helped Salma and Christine into their colorful but cumbersome costumes.
